Our client is the supplier of safety instrumented systems used in the process industry to ensure the safe operation of thousands of plants throughout the world. Our client's Safety Manager™ is an effective and reliable safety solution for critical process control, equipment, and process protection. It integrates process safety data, applications, system diagnostics, and critical control strategies to protect complex and hazardous processes. Safety management solutions can lower the cost of safety and improve plant performance by reducing the risk of safety incidents, maximizing production up-time, reducing the cost of compliance, and providing productivity tools that help plant safety.
The Technology function is responsible for development, maintenance and documentation of the products as delivered by our client, based upon customer & market requirements as provided by Product Marketing. We are looking for a strong leader for the development team in Den Bosch in The Netherlands:

Summary
The Manager Development Engineering is responsible for timely availability of product releases, the quality of the delivered products, the quality of both human and non-human resources required for product development and for the quality of the development process (compliance with regulatory (safety) standards as well as our client's standards).

Responsibilities
Leads a team of 30 highly skilled professionals on electronic hardware development, firmware development, PC software development and (indirectly) test engineering. Additionally, steers a team of 15 engineers in India and manages a close cooperation with development teams in USA.
Together with Marketing, defines and prioritizes the development roadmap. Allocates resources to development programs.
Ensures timely delivery of new product developments (hardware/software/documentation) within budget, with right quality standards
Defines annual financial plans for the development group and controls the realization.
Organizes timely response to customer defect reports through software maintenance releases and/or hardware revisions.
Ensures the quality of the development process, in compliance with Safety Standard IEC61508 (audited on a yearly basis by TuV) and drives to align with uniform processes to improve productivity of the international development team. Maintains and optimizes methods, techniques, tools and domain knowledge for the different disciplines.
Reports directly to the Director of Control & Safety Systems (C&SS) located in Ft Washington, USA and indirectly to the Business leader in den Bosch, the Netherlands.

Gewenste kennis/ervaring
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Information Technology or equivalent, at least 10 years experience in software development and product development, experience in managing professionals and proven ability to manage the quality of software development processes. The candidate has an international focus and understands organizational behaviors in a multinational company.

Environment
Increased pressure to shorten development cycles with less resources while at the same time increasing and sustaining quality and complying with increasing legislation and standard requirements (IEC61508, ISO9001:2000, CMMI, our client's development processes, etc). This results in an environment with continuous change with multiple reporting lines and many interfaces (Marketing, Global Architect Team, Subcontractors, other development groups, etc).
